<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable electric power to be generated by a power generator while using a solar cell as a basic power source, and to extend the application range of the solar cell for the promotion of the widespread use of the cells. <P>SOLUTION: This is an electric power generating device combined with a solar cell, in which the solar is connected to a battery, to which an electric motor is connected, and a power generator is coupled to the electric motor. The electric motor is connected to the battery via a total control device, which is normally configured to make a current of the battery flow into the motor and to use the power generator as an alternative power source. If a failure occurs in the motor or the power generator and when the device is set to use the battery as a direct power source by stopping the current flow from the battery into the motor, the solar cell can be used as the power source when the power generator cannot be used as the power source.
