PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a control method for an optical disk recording and reproducing device in which recording and reproducing operations are performed based upon an instruction signal outputted from a host equipment. SOLUTION: The device is provided with a sub microcomputer 4 which is controlled in initiation by a main microcomputer 3 for controlling an operation of a disk drive device 1 according to a program stored in a ROM 2 and is operable independently of the main microcomputer, and a buffer RAM 5 which is controlled in operations by the main microcomputer 3 and the sub microcomputer 4, program information stored in the ROM 2 is read by the host equipment and based upon the program information, a user program is prepared. Then, the prepared user program is written in the buffer RAM 5 and based upon the user program written in the buffer RAM 5, a control operation is performed. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
