PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an information processing apparatus, a control method for the information processing apparatus, a control program for the information processing apparatus, and a recording medium for recording the control program for the information processing apparatus which are e.g. applied to a hard disk drive or the like for recording video data and capable of applying special reproduction to compressed and recorded video data while maintaining the compatibility with a computer. SOLUTION: The information processing apparatus creates a moving picture file management table 23C in a way capable of particularizing the borders in encoding processing units in compliance with the FAT (File Allocation Table) system and utilizes the moving picture file management table 23C for reproduction of the amplitude file.
