PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical pickup device and an optical disk device advantageous for miniaturization.

SOLUTION: A polarized beam splitter 21 is fixed while turning its lateral side 2106 toward another side of a substrate 16 in the lengthwise direction and tightly contacting its bottom surface 2102 to the upper surface of the substrate 16 and a photodetector 23 without gap. A 1/4 wavelength plate 17 is mounted on the polarized beam splitter 21 while tightly contacting its lower surface 1702 to an upper surface 2104 of the polarized beam splitter 21 in both the lengthwise direction and the breadthwise direction without gap. An objective lens plate 18 is mounted while tightly contacting its lower surface 1806 onto on an upper surface 1704 of the 1/4 wavelength plate 17 without gap. In a light source 22, its mount member 22B is a bonded on the upper surface of the substrate 16 with an adhesive agent or the like while tightly contacting the emission plane of the semiconductor laser 22 and the front face of the mount member 22B to the portions on the lateral side 2106 of the polarized beam splitter 21 without gap.
