<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a tuner which is improved in workability, is reduced in cost or is made larger in the screen of a display by curtailing switches and is user friendly. <P>SOLUTION: A monaural plug 2 disposed at a cable 11 is inserted into a stereo plug 3 disposed at the tuber through a contact 2b of the monaural plug in order to transmit a signal 31 generated by a musical instrument 1. The contact 2b of the monaural plug 2 and a contact 3c of the stereo plug 3 come into contact with each other and the signal S1 is transmitted through the contact 3c to an amplifier circuit 4. Simultaneously therewith, a contact 2a, contact 3a and contact 3b disposed in the stereo plug 3 come into contact as well. The contact 3a is connected to a GND of the tuner and the contact 3a and the contact 3b are shorted. A signal S4 connected to the GND is transmitted to a microcomputer 6.
