摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus and method for detecting a sector sync signal on an optical recording medium. SOLUTION: This apparatus for detecting a sector sync signal on an optical recording medium includes an fsb (frame sync bit) detecting part for detecting an fsb from an LPP signal, a sync detecting part for determining whether continuity exists in the detection of the fsbs from the fsb detecting part and thereby detecting a sector sync using a 6-bit long window or a sector sync using a 3-bit long window, and a sync detection result outputting part for predicting a sync detection period due to continuity and outputting the results when the continuity exists in fsb detection and in sector sync detection and counting a new sync detection period together with a sync detection signal each time a sync is detected from the sync detecting part unless the continuity exists in the fsb detection and in the sector sync detection. Thus, it is possible to more accurately perform recording and reproduction control on the optical recording medium by performing sync detection tough to an error occurrence. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
