PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a floating magnetic head in which a magnetic field of a high strength is applied to a recording medium with a little electric current and a coil is driven in a high frequency band. SOLUTION: Coils 107 and 108 and cores 106 and 109 are formed into hollow circle, and arranged so as to match their central axes with an optical axis of an objective lens. As inner diameter of each of coils and cores (a diameter of an opening) becomes small as it is away from the objective lens. Thereby, the number of times of winding the second coil 108 is made more than the number of times of winding the first coil. Thus, the magnetic field of the high strength is generated by the second coil 108. Further, by reducing an outer dimension of the small-diameter core 109, magnetic flux generated from each coil is concentrated into a small area on the small-diameter coil. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
