PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily and inexpensively realize remote monitoring control of a household electric appliance, an automatic vending machine or the like connected to a network. SOLUTION: The monitoring control system of the present invention is provided with a terminal 10 for monitoring control for using a chat program to transmit transmission destination device information b and monitoring control request information (a) to a device 15 side and using the chat program to display monitoring control result information d returned from the device 15 side, a plurality of device side terminals 14 provided at the device 15 side and for using the chat program to receive the monitoring control request information (a) transmitted from the terminal 10 for monitoring control, performing monitoring control of the device 15 where the terminals 14 themselves are provided on the basis of the received monitoring control request information (a) and returning monitoring control result information g to the terminal 10 for monitoring control being the transmission source, and a chat server 12 connected to the terminal 10 for monitoring control and each of the device side terminals 14 through a communication network and taking charge of information exchange between the terminal 10 for monitoring control and the device side terminals 14.
