<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus having a mode wherein a density difference between an original image data part and an edited image data part is suppressed in the case that image edit processing such as mask processing is applied to the original image data part. <P>SOLUTION: An operation display section 105 selects the density of the edited image data part. When a start key of the operation display section 105 is depressed, a mode of a scanner section 101 is checked, an original is carried onto a contact glass plate when an ADF mode is selected and the scanner section 101 executes reading (scanning) of a platen.
