PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a data recording controller capable of more stably and accurately recording data to a disk medium. SOLUTION: Data read from a DRAM 10 are subjected to 8-16 modulation by a modulation circuit 110 and modulated to channel data. These channel data are converted to recording pulses by a write strategy circuit 120. A timing control circuit 150 instructs the modulation circuit 110 to start the modulation at such a timing that the emitting position of a laser becomes the position before by the time having the specified standby time added to the time required for the modulation and the time required for the conversion to the recording pulse of the channel data. Then, the output of the recording pulse is stopped immediately before the recording pulse to desire the recording is outputted from the write strategy circuit 120 and instructed so as to start the output at such a timing that the emitting position of the laser becomes the desired position.
