PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a passage width adjuster which automatically sets the throw-out passage width of an article throw-out device to the diameter of an article thrown in an article storage rack of an automatic vending machine. SOLUTION: The article throw-out device of the automatic vending machine which throws out articles stacked in the article storage rack one after another from the bottom according to commands is equipped with the passage width adjuster 4 which faces an article throw-out mechanism 3 across the throw-out passage 5. The passage width adjuster 4 comprises an assembly of a couple of right and left expansible X-shaped parallel links 12 which have their rear ends coupled with a machine frame 9, a movable block 13 which is coupled with the front ends of the parallel links through coupling shafts 12e and 12f, a driving spring 16 for the parallel links, a movable passage plate 14 laid in the front of an upper area of the movable block, an article detection plate 15 which has its upper end pivotally coupled with the movable block, and a lock piece 17 which engages the coupling shaft 12f of the parallel links while the detection plate is pressed in with an article entering the throw-out passage to restrain the parallel links at a passage width set position.
