摘要 PURPOSE: A semiconductor carbon nanotube functionalized by hydrogen and its preparation method are provided, to increase the width of energy band gap for allowing the carbon nanotube to be applied to an electronic device, an optical device and an energy storage device. CONSTITUTION: The semiconductor carbon nanotube comprises the chemical bond between hydrogen atoms and carbon atoms. Preferably the bond is sp3 hybrid bond. The method comprises the steps of heating a carbon nanotube in vacuum; decomposing a hydrogen molecule in a hydrogen gas into hydrogen atoms; and exposing the carbon nanotube to the hydrogen gas to allow the hydrogen atoms and the carbon atom of the carbon nanotube to be bonded chemically. Preferably the heating is performed at a temperature of 100 deg.C or more for 2 hours or more; and the decomposition is performed at a temperature of 1,500 deg.C or more, and the hydrogen gas is decomposed by impressing RF or DC bias or using electrical discharge.
