<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and a system for toll collection which collect distance-based tolls without nearly installing a toll gate nearby an entrance/exit gate of a present flat-toll road. <P>SOLUTION: The system is equipped with a beacon antenna 10A and a beacon transmitter receiver 10 as VICS communication facilities arranged on a toll road 100, an on-vehicle device 50 which is mounted on a vehicle 4 traveling on the toll road 100 and can communicate with the VICS communication facilities, and a toll collection device 20 which identifies the vehicle 40 with information from the on-vehicle device 50 when the vehicle 40 passes by the VICS communication facilities, receives information regarding the VICS communication facilities where the identified vehicle 40 has passed, and calculates the travel distance of the vehicle 40 and the toll corresponding to the travel distance according to the received information. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
