SUPERVISORY APPARATUS AND METHOD, AND PROGRAM

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a supervisory apparatus capable of surely and stably applying tracing control to a moving object such as a person.

SOLUTION: When a supervisory camera traces a moving object depending on a moving object image obtained by a supervisory camera 1, a prescribed number of correlation arithmetic blocks smaller than the number of specified areas is set inside and outside the specified areas set to an image frame depending on a tracing area. A correlation arithmetic operation is executed between image frames with respect to the correlation arithmetic blocks to obtain the result of correlation of the outside of the specified area as a first correlation result and to obtain the result of correlation of the inside of the specified area as a second correlation result. After that, a foreground block is selected from the correlation arithmetic blocks in the specified area on the basis of the first and second correlation results and the tracing area denoting the area of the moving object image which the supervisory camera has to trace in response to the foreground block.
