PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve wear-out resistance of the precious metal tip in the spark plug that fixes the precious metal tip on the facing face of a center electrode and a grounding electrode having a discharge gap in between. SOLUTION: The precious metal tip 45 of the grounding electrode 40 has a protrusion length (t) of 0.3 mm or more from the facing face 45 of the ground electrode 40 and is superior in oxidation volatility resistance than the precious metal tip 35 of the center electrode 30.
