PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a portable terminal in which a telephone number to be originated automatically can be confirmed readily and automatic origination can be set readily. SOLUTION: Destination telephone numbers are stored in a storage device 103. Under closed state of a portable telephone, one of the telephone numbers stored in the storage device 103 is selected at an external operating section 104. Since that telephone number is displayed on a display 110 on the back of the portable telephone, it can be confirmed while closing the portable telephone. An automatic origination mode is set on at the external operating section 104. When the portable telephone is opened, an open/close detection circuit 102 detects it and informs a control CPU 101 to this effect. The control CPU 101 performs origination control for the radio section 100 where a state communicable with a base station is established through an antenna 109. Consequently, telephone communication can be carried out using a microphone 107 and a speaker 108. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
