PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a battery that does not have a protruded swelling caused by bead A of weld or the like on the outer periphery of a battery case 1 by forming an inclination 1b on the outer periphery side wall 1a at the top end of the battery case 1 or by shaving the outer periphery side wall 1a after weld ing to the lid 3, and a manufacturing method of this battery. SOLUTION: This is a battery in which a lid 3 is inserted in the top end opening of a battery case 1 housing a generation element 2 and these top end opening of the battery case 1 and the lid 3 are jointed by welding or the like. An inclined face 1b that is inclined inward at an angle of 1°or more and 45°or less toward the top end is formed at the whole circuit of the top end or a part of the outer periphery side wall 1a of the battery case 1.
