The passage (1) for an axle (4) fitted into a housing (2) with a tubular projection (3) and seal (6) surrounding the axle end, has a sleeve (5) between the axle and seal. The sleeve is made from stainless steel or pressed sheet steel with an anti-corrosion coating on the outside. It is joined to the axle with a forced fit and connected to a lever (7) which turns the axle. A variant of the design has a second sleeve surrounding the housing projection.
