PURPOSE: A lightweight ceramic body and its preparation method are provided, to obtain the lightweight ceramic body having black or dark gray color and natural stone-like texture by using cheap materials. CONSTITUTION: The method comprises the steps of dissolving common clay or yellow soil, a binder selected from sodium hydroxide, sodium silicate or their mixture, and at least one carbonate-based foaming agent selected from the group consisting of potassium carbonate, sodium carbonate, sodium bicarbonate and potassium bicarbonate, in water; molding the mixture solution; and calcining the molded one without drying at a temperature of 700-850 deg.C for 15-30 min with maintaining the pressure to be 1-1.9 atm. The lightweight ceramic body has uniform pores with a diameter of about 2 mm at the surface and inside.
