PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a plastic conductive thin-wire element based on a new operation principle and to provide a logic element which uses this element and an integrated circuit which is highly integrated and reducible in power consumption. SOLUTION: The logic element comprises a thin wire 2 made of a semiconductor element such that the number of dopants included per unit length is less than the number of surface potentials per unit length and a side gate 3 which is provided closely to the flank of the thin wire. Electrons are tunneled by applying a voltage between the thin wire 2 and side gate 3 and the electrons are taken out of surface potentials of the thin wire to the side gate 3, so that the thin wire 2 becomes nonconductive. When electrons are supplied from the side gate to the surface potentials of the thin wire 2, the thin wire 2 becomes conductive. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
