PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To do away with an application unevenness in a method of applying phosphor paste between ribs of a substrate for forming a phosphor screen for a plasma display panel. SOLUTION: Phosphor paste is filled between ribs and also applied on tip-tops of both sides, and during or after application of the phosphor paste, a width of paste of each color Pr, Pg, Pb adhered on the tip-tops of the ribs 3 is measured, and the measured values are fed back to the applied parts to control relative positions of the substrate and the applied parts so that the paste-adhered width of the paste of each color at the tip-tops is to be of a given width at left and right. Thus, an application unevenness is dispensed with, with the reduced number of defects and stabilization of quality. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
