PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To shorten time for accessing a recording position and to reduce power consumption. SOLUTION: When recording data onto a disk 60, the driving control circuit 39 of a digital camera 1 constantly carries outs focus/tracking control and thread control to the objective lens (not illustrated) of an optical pickup 43, and receives a wobble signal detected in the process of reading ATIP information by a return light detection circuit 47 to perform spindle control for controlling the number of revolution of a spindle motor 46 so as to make the trace of a spot at a constant linear velocity (CLV). In particular, until recording of next data since recording of the data, the circuit 39 switches the control to CAV control for keeping the number of revolution of the spindle motor to be constant to continue idling of the spindle motor. During this recording standby, the optical pickup 43 is held in the neighborhood of the recording finished position of the last time. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
