<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an automobile headlight capable of extending driver's visible distance from front to side of a vehicle by effectively utilizing a reflection light of a small sub-reflector provided near a light source. <P>SOLUTION: A sub-reflector 40A has optical axes L<SB>2</SB>a and L<SB>2</SB>b almost orthogonal to an optical axis L<SB>1</SB>of a main reflector 20, and extends along the optical axis L<SB>1</SB>of the main reflector. A first light distribution pattern which is close to a current light distribution specification for a headlight that is formed by the main reflector 20 is synthesized with a second light distribution pattern diffused sideways that is formed by the sub-reflector 40A. Thus, the total light distribution amount from the headlight is increased to improve visibility from front to side of a vehicle, for assured safe travel for general drivers as well as elderly drivers. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
