PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a plasma display panel with decreased degradation of luminous intensity and luminous chromaticity, deterioration of discharge characteristics, and generation of cross talk and panel noise at discharging emission. SOLUTION: This panel is provided with a first step of raising the temperature up to a sealing temperature of higher than the softening point of a sealing member 18 and keeping it at that temperature, a second step of lowering the temperature from the sealing temperature to a given temperature, a third step of holding the given temperature for given period of time and substituting the discharge space with drying gas, and a fourth step of lowering the temperature further down from the given temperature. With this, a plasma display panel without degradation of luminous intensity or degradation of luminous chromaticity, without deterioration of discharge characteristics and without cross talk and panel noise at discharge emission is realized.
