PURPOSE: A compressor and a method for controlling an operation of an air conditioner are provided to reduce manufacturing costs by eliminating the necessity of mounting an oil regulator pipe between the compressors of the outdoor unit. CONSTITUTION: An air conditioner comprises two compressors(204a,204b) connected in parallel; oil separators mounted on the outlet ports of the compressors, and which separate oil from the refrigerant discharged from the compressors and return the separated oil to the compressors; a control unit(302) for operating the compressor for a predetermined time period in such a manner that the imbalance of the oil between the compressors is prevented; and an oil level detector for detecting oil levels of the compressors.
