PURPOSE: A method for measuring the availability of ATM link resources is provided to exactly measure the performance of a system by making proportions for the available/unavailable times of each link resource, measuring the total resources occupied during a statistical period, and offering the average occupied resources and percentage per unit time and the maximum/minimum values. CONSTITUTION: The initial minimum unit available capacity is calculated from the start point of a statistical period(S401). The calculated minimum unit available capacity is added to an account, a value of the total available capacity(S402). The calculation of the minimum unit available capacity and the summation of the calculated capacity and the total available capacity value are repeatedly executed until the statistical period expires(S403). When the statistical period expires, the proportion of the total available capacity to the whole system capacity is calculated using the total available capacity value obtained through the calculation and the summation(S404). The calculated available proportion is divided by the time of the statistical period, and the average available capacity per unit time is obtained(S405).
