<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve fuel efficiency and exhaust gas performance by holding an engine output in a prescribed state or by enabling the output to be changed slowly along the best fuel efficiency curve, and to perform the control considering the residual capacity of a battery. <P>SOLUTION: An engine output shaft 2a is coupled to the ring gear R of a planetary gear 6, a motor generator 5 is coupled to a sun gear S, and a carrier CR, which becomes an outputting member, is coupled to the input shaft 7a of a variable speed changer 7.
