<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To discriminate between an image part of the eyes and other parts from a face image even in a noisy condition. <P>SOLUTION: A 1st eye detection system has an eye-pair evaluating means (103) and makes it possible to discriminate between the eyes and other parts by using eye pair evaluated values based upon features of both the eyes even when the eyes can not be discriminated from other parts since features are deficient when the eyes are individually evaluated. A 2nd eye detection system, on the other hand, is equipped with an eye evaluated value calculating means (204), an eye candidate sorting means (205) and a both-eye pairing means (206), and preferentially output a pair of candidates for parts which are more possibly both the eyes. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
