PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a moving average value calculating device for calculating the moving average value of digital data with a small number of memories. SOLUTION: Each bit rate read from digital data is successively added till the set number of samples so as to allow the calculated total value to be a bit rate total value. The bit rate total value is divided by reading times to calculate a number average value. When the value becomes not less than the set number of samples, the total value obtained by adding the bit rate read from digital data to the bit rate total value is defined as the bit rate total value. The bit rate total value is divided by the number of the samples to calculate the moving average value. A value obtained by subtracting the moving average value from the bit rate total value is adopted as the bit rate total value. Afterwards, whenever the bit rate is read from digital data, the total value is obtained by adding the bit rate total value to the read bit rate.
