1282768 p-Methylaminophenol-ascorbic acid complex EASTMAN KODAK CO 28 Nov 1969 [29 Nov 1968] 58292/69 Heading C2C [Also in Division G2] A complex of ascorbic acid with N-methyl-paminophenol is prepared by adding ethyl acetate and N-methyl-p-aminophenol sulphate or hydrochloride to an aqueous solution of sodium carbonate monohydrate and sodium sulphite, agitating the solution and separating the upper phase comprising ethyl acetate and N-methyl-p-aminophenol. This solution is then added to a solution of ascorbic acid in water and methanol or ethanol, and the solvent removed to leave the desired liquid product. Alternatively, sodium carbonate monohydrate is added to a hot solution of N-methyl-p-aminophenol sulphate and ascorbic acid, followed by cooling to precipitate the complex.
