PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and an apparatus for glow discharge emission spectral analysis capable of speedily and efficiently acquiring accurate analysis results on a large number of elements. SOLUTION: In the method for glow discharge emission spectral analysis for measuring the intensity of light emission by bringing about glow discharge between an anode tube and a sample in an electric discharge gas, the pressure of the electric discharge gas is changed, and, every time the pressure of the electric discharge gas reaches an optimum pressure for the electric discharge gas of any element to be measured, the intensity of light emission of the element to be measured is measured. In this invention, it is possible to continuously or gradually raise or lower the pressure of the electric discharge gas. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
