Optical beam splitter (2) for decoupling radiation from a laser beam (1) consists of an optical flat (2) of refractive index gradient glass, with a functional phase hologram incorporated below its surface. An Independent claim is also included for production of this optical beam splitter by selecting a refractive index gradient glass with optimized ion structure and incorporating the phase hologram by ion diffusion below the surface of a substrate glass.
