PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus which uses an external heat fixing system and which curtails the time for warming-up as far as possible by lessening heat radiation in heat conduction from a heating roller to a fixing roller. SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus uses the external heat fixing system, in which the central position (Q) of a heat source 57 in the heating roller 53 is located on the upstream side of a direction (A) for driving the heating roller 53 with respect to a straight line (X) passing a nip position (P) of the heating roller 53 and the fixing roller 51 and a center (R) at the section of the heating roller 53.
