Window mounting frame (5) is fitted between the window frame (4) and the window opening (2b) in a wall (2). It projects beyond the edge (2a) of the opening, so that the window frame is offset from it. Independent claims are included for: (a) a similar door mounting frame; (b) a building with a window opening fitted with the frame system, with insulation (22) fitted inside the projecting system; and (c) a building with a similar door opening.
