The invention relates to a rail/road vehicle comprising a chassis (1) bearing a tool-holder plate (11). An elevating platform (13), such as a nacelle, is mounted to the aforementioned tool-holder plate to enable work to be carried out on an overhead wire. Moreover, said chassis (1) comprises four road wheels (3) for road circulation and four railway wheels (2) which can be moved from a first rest position in which the railway wheels (2) extend above the contact plane of the road wheels (3) to a second operating position in which said railway wheels (2) extend below the road wheel (3) contact plane, such that the railway wheels (2) rest on the rails (19) of a railway, tramway or similar line. The invention is characterised in that the road wheels (3) are freely mounted to shafts which are solidly connected to the chassis (1) comprising means of transporting the vehicle from a storage area to a work area using a light vehicle (14).
