PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a vertically pleated and drawn-formed paper container capable of securing its shape retention, facilitating the separation of a single piece from the superposed and stacked body of the containers, simply and reliably applying a lid to the edge of the opening of the container, and keeping the container in a favorable state for food sanitation by eliminating cut edges of paper, which come in contact with food in the container, from all portions in the container. SOLUTION: In manufacturing the vertically pleated and drawn-formed paper container 5 whose body 4 is drawn and formed into a plane-continuous wave shape, the circumference 5A of the opening of the container 5 is uniformly widened outward and raised to form a first lateral flange 4A on the upper circumference of the body 4 of the container, a vertical flange 4B connected to the first lateral flange 4A, and further, a second lateral flange 4A connected to the vertical flange 4B, which are respectively integrated with one another. Thus, with the aid of the rigidity of each of the flanges 4A and 4B, the upper part of the container can be reinforced to the degree that it is not arbitrarily deformed, and the cut edges of paper can be eliminated from all portions in the container.
