PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To measure a radius of a tip portion of a workpiece rotating around an axial line easily and precisely. SOLUTION: In order to measure a radius of a blade body 42a of a high- pressure turbine wheel 17 rotating around an axial line L, the blade body 42a of the rotating turbine wheel 17 is subjected to pass through the vicinity of a reference shield 63 fixed to a position which is a predetermined distance apart from the axial line L, while laser light is transmitted from a laser light transmitting unit 67 to a gap between the blade body 42a and the reference shield 63. A minimum value of the gap is calculated based on a minimum amount of light received concerning the laser light passed through the gap and received by a laser light receiving unit 68. The radius of the blade body 42a of the turbine wheel 17 is calculated by subtracting the minimum value from the predetermined distance. The timing of light transmission of the laser light is controlled by detecting other blade body 42a by limit switches 71, 72. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
