<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a low-priced and reliable ceramic filter to be used for a long time by preventing generation of a crack to be caused by local combustion of PM (particulate matters) deposited in the filter. <P>SOLUTION: In the ceramic filter for exhaust-gas purification, there are provided slits for communication between a gas-inlet surface and a gas-outlet surface, and besides holes (through holes) are provided on the inlet surface for communication with the outlet surfaces.
