PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a tunnel excavator which prevents cave-in of excavated ground and enables stable and smooth excavation and earth removal, to thereby improve the efficiency of tunnel excavation, and to provide a tunnel excavating method. SOLUTION: According to the tunnel excavator, a cutter spoke 18 of a cutter head 17 has a copy cutter 20 arranged thereon, which is protrudable/ withdrawable by means of a hydraulic jack 21, and a spray port (mud adding nozzle) 36 for spraying a mud additive is formed at the tip of the copy cutter 20. Then, the mud additive is sprayed from the spray port 36 into a cavity formed due to overbreak, in synchronization with expansion/contraction of the copy cutter 20. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
