PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve productivity and to reduce the cost by unifying kinds of devices to be shipped independently of kinds of fuel. SOLUTION: A control device 44 sets the setting engine speed of a gas engine 30 to reduce to 850 min<SP>-1</SP>, and when the engine speed is reduced, the control device 44 controls a fuel control valve 35 at the predetermined opening (by 250 step) to reduce the fuel quantity, and maintains this condition for the predetermined time. Continuously, the control device 44 controls the fuel control valve 35 at an opening by 80 step, and determines whether the real engine speed is reduced by 30 min<SP>-1</SP>or more or not on the basis of a result of computing of a difference of the engine speed before and after a change of opening from the opening by 250 step to the opening by 80 step. In the case of 'YES', the control device 44 controls the fuel control valve 35 at the opening by 250 step, and on the basis of a result of computing of a difference of the engine speed before and after a change of opening from the opening by 80 step to the opening by 250 step, the control device 44 determines whether the engine is increased by at least 30 min<SP>-1</SP>or not, and in the case of 'YES', kind of gas is determined as the town gas 13A.
