PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a toroidal type continuously variable transmission capable of enhancing the fatigue lifetime of a power roller bearing by preventing the bearing from application of an excessive load. SOLUTION: The toroidal type continuously variable transmission is equipped with conical roller bearings 32 each consisting of an inner ring raceway 23a formed on an inner ring 30, an outer ring raceway 32b formed on an outer ring 31, and conical rollers 32c pinched by these raceways 32a and 32b, wherein the outer ring 31 is furnished with a through hole 34 of a low rigidity structure to promote a deformation of the outer ring 31 so that it makes following-up after the deformation of the inner ring 30 caused by a pressing force Fc acting from an input 3 and an output disc 8.
