PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of gathering surface layer soil capable of restoring the surface of a ground after sampling to a state before the sampling as early as possible when buried seeds are gathered for use from a forest surface layer soil around a constructed site for seeding and planting the greened surfaces by using plants at site. SOLUTION: In this method for gathering the surface layer soil 1 to be scattered or sprayed on the greened surfaces, small amounts of surface layer soils 1 are gathered from a plurality of gathering areas A, and an organic material 3 is scattered or sprayed in the gathering areas A.
