Method and apparatus for automatically loading luncheon meat, cheese and like products into preformed container parts. In practicing the invention the container part is inverted, and the product lifted upwardly and pressed into the part. The loaded part is then rotated approximately 180 DEG and released such as onto a conveyor system for delivery for further package assembling. Precise control and positioning of the product is maintained through all phases of loading. In addition, such a loading method and apparatus is readily adapted to be fully automated, if desired, and can load at speeds "in line" with high speed package assembling apparatus, vacuumizing stations, sealing stations, etc.
