PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and device for inspecting foreign matter by which foreign matters mixed in liquids contained in containers, such as bottles, PET bottles, etc., including those mixed in liquids contained in colored bottlers or PET bottles or in colored liquids can be detected surely and quickly in a production line producing a liquid product, such as the drink, liquid chemical, etc. SOLUTION: While a light is projected to an object to be inspected containing a liquid product through the first side face of the object and, at the same time, another light is obliquely projected to the object through both sides of the second side face of the object opposite to the first side face, an image pickup means provided on the second side face receives transmitted light and reflected light from the object and the image signal of the image pickup means is processed.
