PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a transfer device free from disorder of printing, voids of characters, or the like by approximately equalizing the peripheral speed of an image carrying roll and that of a photoreceptor roller in the case of the existence of a transfer material between the image carrying roll and the photoreceptor roller to prevent peeling discharge caused by a difference between the carrying speed on the image carrying roll side and the photoreceptor roller side of the transfer material. SOLUTION: A transfer roll transmission gear 54 for transmitting a power to a transfer roll 25 is engaged with a photoreceptor roller transmission gear 53 for transmitting a power to a photoreceptor roller 21. When a form doesn't exist between the photoreceptor roller 21 and the transfer roll 25, a gear ratio of the photoreceptor roller transmission gear 53 and the transfer roll transmission gear 54 is so set that the transfer roll 25 is rotated at a peripheral speed obtained by adding an extent of reduction of the peripheral speed of the transfer roll 25 for the existence of the form to the peripheral speed of the photoreceptor roller 21.
