PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hydrostatic slider is reduced in size and cost. SOLUTION: The hydrostatic slider 1 has a core bar 10 which is an element for generating hydrostatic pressure and is formed by a cylindrical porous body, and a joint 2 fixed to one end of the core bar 10. A cylindrical slider 13 is fitted on the outer peripheral portion of the core bar 10 with a small clearance, and is supported in a no-contact state by restricted gas jetted from the whole outer peripheral surface of the core bar 10. A cap 12 fixed to the other end of the core bar 10 functions as a stopper for preventing a fall-out of the slider 13. In addition, the cap 12 works as a mounting portion for fixing the core bar 10 to a required position. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
