PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus for condensing fiber strands in a spinning machine. SOLUTION: This apparatus for condensing the fiber strands is installed in the spinning machine. The fiber strand comes out of the pair of front rollers of a drafting device and enters a condensation zone disposed just downstream thereof. An air-permeable conveyor belt serves to convey the fiber strand through the condensation zone. The conveyor belt is guided in sliding motion on a static suction channel, the suction channel including a suction slit which is covered with the conveyor belt, the suction slit starts in close proximity to the pair of front rollers and ends at a nip line on the terminal of the condensation zone. The suction slit first lies along a circumference angle of≥30°in the moving direction of the conveyor belt and follows the circumference of an upper roller by a certain distance and then deflects at an angle of≥90°and continues in mutually different curves to the end.
