The fluid flow passing through a channel or pipe (1) is controlled by a flap (3) that is moved to change the flow cross section. The movement is provided by an electromagnetic actuator that has a rotary armature (4). This has a pair of coils (9,11) sitting on ferromagnetic cores (8,10) and providing bi-directional movement.
