In a process to straighten and/or realign threads in a mesh web, the web passes around a straightening drum face. After detection and registration of the distorted mesh section, corrections are effected over the entire width of the drum by local acceleration or deceleration movements of a correction drum. The corrections are different from section to section. A correction of S-distortions or other non-linear sections is facilitated by a compact array of drums. Also claimed is a commensurate mesh correction assembly consisting of an array of segment drums on a single shaft.
