<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recognition apparatus and a recognition method for extremely easily recognizing a forward vehicle. <P>SOLUTION: Reflection point data by a laser radar module are fetched by a CPU (S1), at the same time an imaged image is captured by a camera module for extracting a rectangular region as a forward vehicle candidate (S2), an inverse projection image is formed to the overlapped section between the extracted rectangular region and the detection range of the laser radar module as described above (S3), it is judged whether the deviation between distance to a reflection line for connecting each of reflection lines by the laser radar module from an own vehicle and distance from the own vehicle to the inverse projection image is within a specific error range or not, and it is recognized whether the inversion projection image is the forward image or not (S4). <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
